Web hosting is the term that refers to the service involving the placement of your Web site onto the Internet through a computer server. Once this is done, anyone anywhere in the World is able to access those Web pages and view the information that is provided there for them.
With VirtualWeb FX, your small business can use an established domain name, or VirtualWeb FX can register a domain name for you. The Web site address (URL) will be http://www.yourcompany.com/. This allows you to maintain company brand identity by using your company's domain name without taking on additional overhead from server hardware costs, leased data lines, and additional personnel needed to run a state-of-the-art Web server.
What do I need to get started?
To get started you will need: 1) A Web site , 2) A Domain Name, and a 3) Web hosting account. A Domain Name is an Internet address used to access your Web site (the computers on the Internet translate the name to number and a network location). Do the Web hosting accounts come with dial-up Internet access?
This probably the only service we do not provide, however, from past experience, we highly recommend using Earthlink's dial-up access service.
Can I use Microsoft FrontPage?
Yes. FrontPage support is included with all accounts. Access to the FrontPage extensions are automatically available to you with all web hosting accounts.
What is the difference between e-mail boxes and aliases?
E-mail boxes receive and store e-mail until you retrieve it with your e-mail program. For example, your e-mail box name might be yourname@yourcompany.com. You must also have an EarthLink dial-up account to be able to send e-mail from that address; otherwise, you will send e-mail utilizing your existing dial-up service provider.
Aliases can be used to identify roles in the company which receive e-mail. For instance, aliases for sales@yourcompany.com or info@yourcompany.com can be forwarded to any existing e-mail box.
What is bandwidth and how much do I need?
In this context, bandwidth refers to the amount of traffic that your Web site uses on a monthly basis. For most businesses, 500 MB of traffic has been more than enough. We want your site to be a success, so we give you 2,000 MB with our IntroWeb, 4,000 MB with our Enhanced Web plan, 5,000 MB with our Enhanced Web + plan, and as much as 6,000 MB with our Complete Web account. This way, you can concentrate on growing your traffic without worrying about usage fees.
How many pages can I fit into 30 MB of server space?
This is a tough question to answer. Depending on how graphically intensive your site is, and on how long you consider a "page" to be, 30 MB for most commercial sites will hold anywhere from 2,000 to 6,000 Web pages. About 90% of our commercial customers fall well within the 30 MB plan.

How do I register my site with search engines?
Use the Control Panel to submit your site for free to the top 8 search engines. (If VirtualWeb FX has designed your site, we will perform this service at no additional cost when your site goes online.)
Note: It is always a good idea to resubmit your site whenever significant changes have been made.
